Real Men Can Cook

For the past four years Orbit Medical has sponsored the annual REAL Men Can Cook event. This is a special community building event put on by Your Community Connection (YCC) of Ogden/Northern Utah. REAL Men Can Cook is a valuable event that promotes positive male role-models and also raises funds to support the YCC. These funds are used to empower at risk families in the community and help the YCC accomplish its purpose of providing programs and services to help families who experience homelessness, domestic violence, rape or sexual assault.

The 15th annual REAL Men Can Cook was held Friday, September 15 in Ogden, Utah. This community-building event welcomes all men from the area to cook for the gourmet buffet. Volunteer Chefs gathered to share their talents, culinary expertise, delicious food, and to assist the YCC in helping the community. Professionals, restaurants and amateurs all donated time and food to the event. This year over 1,100 people were served and enjoyed excellent food. It is truly a rewarding experience that provides needed assistance to the community. It was a fun and rewarding event for all.

Orbit Medical is striving to give back to the community and truly believes this event is beneficial to help provide needed support to families in crisis. REAL Men Can Cook welcomes all men in the community to help YCC in their mission of "saving and changing lives" by sharing their talents and culinary expertise. Assistive Technology

Let's face it; at some point in time all of our bodies don't seem to work right. That point in time is different for all of us. As we become less mobile we are often faced with a decision of moving around by ourselves without help, or getting some kind of assistive device to help us. There has been much improvement with assistive technology in resent years which has allowed those with less mobility to still enjoy an active life. Regaining independence in one's life can be an amazing change.

Assistive technology is any type of device or process that adapts and assists body functions, or is used in rehabilitation. Assistive technology devices are designed to help people perform tasks that they previously could not accomplish. These appliances can be anything from text telephones for hearing impaired or motorized wheelchairs for those with mobility difficulties.

If we are born with disabilities or if the need of assistance comes with time, there is probably some sort of assistive technology out there that can help. By using assistive technology in the right situation we can turn disabilities into abilities and continue to live a happy normal life. I encourage you to find out if any sort of assistive technology can help improve your functioning skills and make life a little easier.
